Arizona House Republican Leaders Praise Supreme
Court Decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Case, Affirm
Commitment to Protect Life

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Arizona House Republican Leadership made the following
statement regarding the United States Supreme Court’s landmark decision today in Dobbs v.
Jackson, and affirmed the commitment of House Republicans to protect life in Arizona:

“The Supreme Court’s decision today was the right one, returning to the people and their
state legislatures the difficult and contested questions that Roe v. Wade wrongly removed
from the democratic process half a century ago. Our commitment to protect life remains
resolute, and our work of building a true culture of life will continue.”

Over the last two legislative sessions, House Republicans have approved numerous measures and
added new funding to support women’s health, including:

• Adding $8.9 million to expand AHCCCS eligibility for women up to one year postpartum.
• Expanding the newborn screening program to increase the number of disorders included in
the screening.
• Adding $300,000 for homeless pregnant women services, bringing the total funding to
$500,000 in FY 2023.
• Establishing the Maternal Mental Health Advisory Committee to recommend
improvements for screening and treating maternal mental health disorders.
• Adding $10 million to increase AHCCCS ob/gyn provider rates by 88%.

During the same period, House Republicans have also approved several measures to expand the
safety net for Arizona families, including:

• Allowing Kidscare members to remain eligible for 12 months to ensure no interruption of
coverage.
• Increasing the monthly Kinship Stipend from $75 to $300.
• Increasing the Foster Child Daily Stipend from $1.41 to $2.82.
